Nafion Membrane

Fuel Cell Earth offers proton exchange membrane which is necessary in allowing the passage of ions to the anode and cathode sides of the fuel cell. Our membrane is available in different thickness,2 mil, 3.5mil, 5 mil, and 7 mil. We offer our membrane in its dry state or if you prefer we can pre-treat the membrane in smaller sizes.

These films are used as separators in electrochemical cells requiring high ionic conductivity, for example in fuel cells and water electrolyzers. Product names include: NE1035, N115, N117.

DuPont dispersion-casts or extrudes its Nafion-brand membranes of perfluorosulfonic acid polymer/polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) copolymer. For example, its NRE-211 and 212 films, in thicknesses of 25 to 51 m, function to selectively transport positively charged ions across the cell junction in a Proton Exchange Membrane (PEM) fuel cell.
