General Information:

Traditional platinum supported on Vulcan XC72 is proven to be the standard catalyst for many oxidation and reduction reactions in both acidic and basic electrolytes and would be an ideal candidate for process feasibility studies. However, this catalyst fails to perform due to carbon corrosion when operated for an extended period of time in harsh conditions such as highly acidic medium and high potential cycling in electrochemical systems. Platinum supported on high durable carbon supported catalyst are resistant to the carbon corrosion and oxidation stability.

The high durable carbon supported catalyst maintains a small platinum crystallite size even on graphitic surface which contributes to relatively high platinum surface areas with superior electrochemical performance.
